Hi hi hi. Now that the stretch of strangely cold then hot weather has passed it is time for autumn; crisp wind, fiery foliage, leaves that blow off of trees and hit you in the eye as you walk to class. If you’re as addicted to your headphones as I am, you like to listen to music as you meander around grounds because full sensory perception is for pussies. I don’t know about you, but I often like for my music to enhance whatever I’m doing–whether it’s sexing, smoking, or even just plain reading. Why should walking around on a chilly autumn day be any different?
What I’m trying to say is, I put together a little playlist for this nice weather we’re having. I was looking for songs that are mostly acoustic, well-tempered but not happy, mellow but not slow, with a good rhythm that’s not too overpowering and lyrics that are nostalgic or wistful but detached in a serene kind of way. Basically, it should sound like the taste of truffle oil.
- of Montreal – The Repudiated Immortals
it’s just the heaviness that comes with knowing you will never die - Gregory and the Hawk – Grey Weather
despite the careless words you say, i’m always keeping faith - Neutral Milk Hotel – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
can’t believe how strange it is to be anything at all - Margot and the Nuclear So-and-Sos – Skeleton Key
this stream of whisky helps to wash you away - Ani Difranco – Cradle and All
think i’m gonna cry, i don’t know why
think i’m gonna sing myself a lullaby - Broken Social Scene – Hhallmark
- Idlewild – Live in a Hiding Place
and you’re full of facts but not things that could add up to words
The list is not very long, but I plan on adding to it so check back if you’re interested, or bored.
